Dr. Andrea Bryant is a Provost's STEM Postdoctoral Fellow in Brown University's Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences. She utilizes seismology to study the habitability of planetary and lunar bodies featuring surface and subsurface oceans.

Andrea graduated from the University of Chicago in 2024 with a Ph.D. in Physics. Her doctoral and ongoing postdoctoral research focus on full-waveform modeling of Titan's interior, specifically investigating methane clathrates and surface wave seismology.

Specialized in computational wavefield simulations, she is highly passionate about Titan and the NASA Dragonfly mission. She is currently expanding her planetary seismology framework to the Moon, Mars, and other ocean worlds.

The Interior Lives
of Icy Worlds

I develop theoretical seismic profiles for icy moons like Titan, Europa, and Enceladus — creating the synthetic data that will guide interpretation when future spacecraft finally place seismometers on these distant worlds.

🪐

Titan Seismology

Modeling seismic wave propagation through Titan's methane clathrate lid, hydrocarbon lakes, and high-pressure ice layers for NASA's Dragonfly mission.

🌊

Ocean World Interiors

Constructing thermal and seismic profiles for icy ocean worlds — tracing how heat flows, ice deforms, and hidden subsurface oceans shape the geophysics of these moons.

🛸

Dragonfly Mission

As a Dragonfly Associate and JPL Intern, I contribute to science planning for the rotorcraft lander that will explore Titan's surface in the 2030s.

& Wonder

My artistic practice emerges directly from my science. I ask: what would it feel like to be inside a seismic wave on Titan?

The Cosmic Seismic Chime is an immersive artwork co-created with digital artist Nimrod Astarhan, translating my seismic models of Titan into a multisensory installation — vibration, light, and tone converging into alien music.

This work has been presented at the Space Art Symposium at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of Chicago Arts Initiative.
